Why Him?

I sat in the chair across from Kurik, bloodying the carpet. He talked with Monosai, ignoring me completely. "Umm...?" I drew his attention back. "It is an awful pity to dirty the carpet," he said. He healed me, but I still felt horrible. Probably the alcohol, it is the first time. The only time, I thought. "Why, Syra, will you go get the book about dragons on that shelf over there?" I got up, and walked to the shelf he had indicated. I got a book, acting drunk. "Syra, I need to see the book," Kurik said. Does he know? I asked myself. I retrieved the correct book, walking back to the table. "What's that?" Kurik pointed at my neck. I looked down, and saw the chain I hardly noticed anymore. I pulled it out of my tunic. He gasped as I revealed an amulet with a large sapphire. "What?" He didn't answer. "May I take a closer look?" I nodded and handed it to him. He was careful not to touch the amulet, only the chain, and handed it back after careful scrutiny. He seemed to fear it. We were enveloped in conversation again. Once it got late, he looked pointedly at me, then his room. I cursed the fact that I was supposedly drunk. I faked passing out. That should be good enough, I thought. Monosai, however, really was drunk, and went easily.

Dying Here...

As Monosai carried me into the town we saw a figure walking though the streets. Guess who it was... Yup, (cue sarcasm) my favorite person in the word, Kurik. You would think I'd be happy to see any healer, considering I was bleeding to death. You would think I'd love to see any healer, no matter how much I disliked him. You would think wrong. Kurik was the last person I wanted to see, placed after death. I couldn't imagine him actually doing something effective, not without some sort of repayment. I had gotten like this because of him! I had no doubt that it would have been less painful to hang than this, and no healer could change the fact that I had just helped to kill my childhood family. I didn't even know why I had helped Monosai instead of them. She had tried to kill me, and so I saved her life? If that wasn't a sign I'd gone nuts, I don't know what was. Anyway, Kurik told us to meet him at the guild house, so Monosai decided to go and get drunk again while I was dying. I got buzzed, I was, let me remind you, bleeding my life out. Surprisingly, we made it back to the guild house, (or mad house, if you prefer) with a dying wolf, and a drunk sea bird.

Brush with Death

I crumpled, I was loosing energy, and blood, at an alarming rate. I had cuts, bruises, mostly from contact with the ground immidiately after contact with a piece of dragon, and acid burns. Monosai noticed, and rushed to my side, picking me up, which was odd, considering I weighed more than she did. She hoisted my body off the ground, and took off into the air. The dragon followed us into the trees, and if it weren't for the thick trunks, it would have caught us immidiately. Monosai dodged the trunks quickly, and the dragon couldn't hope to have the same luck. Then Monosai crashed, falling on top of me, her armor making her much heavier than she really was. The dragon crashed into the same tree, and there was a loud cracking noise, like thunder. The tree fell towards us, and Monosai jumped back into the air. We headed towards Teak, and soon the gate came into veiw. Monosai atempted to fly over the wall, but with my added weight, she couldn't gain the altitude. If I hadn't known another way in, I would have told her to leave me, or that's what I liked to think, but I did, and I said so. "My den," I murmered. "Where is it?" Monosai inquired. "The north-east corner." Monosai took me there, and we entered my den through a hole in the wall.

What Happened to Enemies?

I ran back to the clearing, knowing I couldn't leave even my greatest enemy - which was technically what Monosai was - to die at the hands of anything that was capable of uttering the noise I had just heard. I knew that if I were to be of assistance before the creature - it had to be some sort of animal - struck, I would have to throw something at it. I dashed though the trees, then I saw it, a giant, black, winged beast. It was a dragon, a black dragon. I knew black dragons didn't breathe fire, they spit acid. Once in range, I pulled my dagger from under folds of cloth, took aim, and tossed the blade with all my might. It struck home, burying itself into flesh at the base of the dragon's skull. It roared in fury, turning it's masive head towards me. I noticed at once how big it was, it could have swallowed me whole, or very nearly at least. Monosai slashed at it while it was focused on me, and I ran to her side. It covered us both in acid, wanting us dead. We contiued to fight, despite the many injuries we received, and I won't bore (or disgust) you with the details.

The First Battle

The wolves turned as I rushed into the clearing, thier eyes and faces strangely blank. The female - I simply could not believe she was Mydan - stood still, and it was clear she was a spell caster. I attacked one of the males, doing little damage. Then the female cast some sort of spell on me, and I was overcome with laughter. The second male, I couldn't tell them apart, attacked Monosai, gripping her arm with his teeth. Monosai, who had managed to get some damage in on the second male before my predicament, was now, even with the wolf touching her, missing her target, and I, rendered useless by the laughter spell, could do nothing to assist her. The wolves were focussing thier efforts on Monosai, the only one capable of striking. I thought this was foolish, but I wasn't about to say so. Finally, the effect of the spell wore off, and I managed to get in a few blows, and Monosai finnished the second wolf off. I slew the first, and together we ended the sorceres. I cleaned my blade on the grass, and then I heard it. A rustling in the bushes. It graduly crept closer through the trees, and I started in the opposite direction. Then I heard a gigantic roar coming from the clearing, and one thought hit me full force: Monosai hadn't moved.

OH... GREAT!

The following night I set out on our adventure alone, Monosai was still drunk after going to the tavern again. I headed out to the water fall, and paused at the edge of the clearing. I quietly crept around the clearing to view what was going on from behind a bush. Shortly afterward, Monosai stumbled into the clearing, dazed, and still drunk. My gaze flicked to the tree wolves, and I gasped. There were three wolves there, all of them had their eyes locked on Monosai, but I knew immediately who they were. Great I thought, and then rushed to help Monosai.

Adventure? What KIND of adventure?

"An adventure like what?" I asked as Monosai continued singing 'animal crackers'. "To investigate a secret meeting at the waterfall. The Trybe of the Sylver Dawn has-" NO!!! No NO NO!!! Not THEM!!! I thought histerically. "No," I said, trying to keep my voice calm. "We could always send you back to the courthouse," Kurik said, in his freaking annoying, high pitched voice. Blackmail? You gotta be joking, and all the time he's either harrassing me, or flirting with bird girl. I thought, disgusted. "Ok, what do you want m- us to do?" I asked. "Good girl, we want you to spy on their meeting. We want to know who they're meeting with and why. You can leave tomorrow evening. In the mean time, why don't you get a good nights rest?" He asked then jerked his head towards his room. EEW! SICKO! I thought disgustedly. In human years I was two, true I was technically fully mature, but still. "I'll just sleep out here," I said pretending I hadn't noticed the movement.

Kurik

"Good, you can meet out leader in a little while," The elf said. "Okay, I'll be going now," I said, and Monosai followed me out of the building. Monosai went off to the tavern, so I followed to try to get some money. Soon we went to meet the head hancho of the guild thing. We entered the building, me, the 'criminal', completely sober, the town's best and most trusted guard, totally drunk, I didn't get it. We found ourselves in a large room filled with books, I suppose you could call it a library, but I'd rather not use correct terms, after all, I'm supposed to dumb, just 'cuz I'm a wolf. A spellscale entered the room, he was kinda creepy. "Hello, I am the leader..." He continued, but I kinda spaced out, I know I mentioned some funny things, and if I remember, I'll post them here. "So, since you're members of the Adventurers Guild, I should give you your coins." The spellscale, Kurik, said, and then handed us each a coin, with different patterns on each of them. I tried using mine like a frizbee, it went, then appeared in my hand again. OK, this is creepy, I thought. "And we would like it if you would go on a little adventure for us..."

Guild

I was now waiting to learn how I would die, but when someone finally entered the room it was obviously not who Monosai was expecting. She looked at the elf in surprise, and I growled. A panther who clearly didn't like me had entered after the elf, and it growled back. "Now, Syra be nice," said the elf. I jumped. "H-how do you know my name?" I stuttered, the elf didn't answer. "We've been watching, and we were hoping you would join our guild," she said instead. "What?!?! Her? Join your guild?!?!" Monosai interrupted. "And you, Monosai. After all, you are the most appreciated guard in the town, but to catch Syra here. We weren't expecting that, even from you," the elf replied. "She wouldn't have if it weren't for the blasted crowd," I muttered. "Why would I join your guild anyway?" I asked rudely. "Because it's either that or you're executed," the elf replied. I glared, and said, " Fine."

The chase

If there hadn't been anyone there in my way I know I would have left Monosai the Raptorian in the dust, quickly. Anyway there were people in my way and they wouldn't move, but they ran to let Monosai through, so she caught me. I turned to fight knowing I couldn't run away. We fought, she won, there are more important things to put here that the stuff I don't really care about or remember such as where she hit me. All you need to know about that battle is that as I felt my strength deteriorating I surrendered. Then Monosai the O so proud took me to where I would surely meet my doom.

Teak

Yes there were no Trybes in the forest who didn't hate me, so I went to Teak where they would put me in a pit to slowly rot for just being there. Makes sense huh? They were more likely to cut off my head than kill me slowly and give me a chance to escape. Anyway on, like, my second week there I was in the tavern playing cards with a drunk dwarf when one of the 'best'(worst for me) guards in the town came over and looked in the window. I'll never know if she saw me because the dwarf I was playing with insisted I was cheating. Now I don't know about you but I don't need to cheat when I'm playing with a drunk to win. So he says, "Fess up I know you cheated and if you don't hand over the money I'll hand you over to Monosai right there." Well it doesn't mater if he would have turned me in anyway, which he probably would, because I wasn't about to hand over money I didn't have when I didn't lose or cheat. "I did not cheat!" I whispered, exasperated. Suddenly he was holding the scruff of my neck and dragging me through the door. "Look a wolf! A wolf inside Teak!" He shouted much too loudly. Monosai, of course, started towards us. I couldn't be caught, so I quickly unsheathed my blade and pressed it to the dwarfs neck. I didn't have any time to kill him so after he let go of me I ran.

Is this love?

Yes his name was Arow and he wanted me, he wanted me enough to use artificial love, a love potion. I realized he had done it, but only after it was to late. I loved him. Fern and I were best friends now. I didn't want to hurt her So what was I supposed to do? I still don't know. I did something, but I still don't know if it was the best thing to do. I just kept my distance, expecting it to where off in an hour, but it didn't. I was love struck for five whole days. Then it seamed to weaken. It weakened steadily for only five minutes, then, to my great distaste, it was two times stronger that it had originally been. It stayed that way for almost an hour, and in that hour I managed to hurt more people than in the rest of my life combined, Fern, Arow, and anyone who cared about either them. I left the Trybe of the Fleeting Sparo that day.

Trybe of the Fleeting Sparo

After lying in bed with only illusions of things that probably didn't exist for company I was only to great full when the Trybe of the Fleeting Sparo decided to let me join them. The first day I came to their camp I was terrified. I walked in with my head and tail low showing all signs of low rank and submission. The only wolf there other than the alphas and myself was a young male about my age. He was clearly of semi-high rank because his head and tail were slightly raised, and he was gazing at me with more than curiosity in his near hopeful eyes, which were tawny almost golden. Soon after I arrived a gray and white female who clearly loved him came into the camp she took one look at him and then trotted over to me. "Hello," She said kindly, "My name is Fern. You must be the wolf the Hermit looked after. What is your name?" "Yes, I am. My name is Syra. It is nice to meet you Fern, maybe we can be friends," She seemed to realize that I didn't want her crush because she visibly relaxed. Unfortunately he wanted me more than I realized.

Half-dead! Are you sure that means half-alive?

I had been wounded badly while trying to convince anyone from the Trybe of Sylver Dawn that I wasn't a spy for my former Trybe. I found an old hermit, or rather he found me. He took me to his hut. As I entered I noticed the general layout of the place. There were herbs hanging from the ceiling and a fire pit in the center with purple smoke rising to a small hole in the roof right above. It was then I passed out from loss of blood. I don't remember much about my time being nursed back to health, but then who would. I do remember seeing things. I thought they were illusions, I was probably right. One of my visions really caught my eye. I saw a cat, and I don't know why. All my visions made some sense. All except the cat.

Trybe of the Wyte Knyte

I wandered arround occasionally coming into a Tribe Terratore. When I did I was chased off. My life at this point was so predictable. Then I stumbled upon a Wyte Knyte patrol. I was sure I was done for. Luckily for me their female Alpha was with them. She seemed to like me so she took me in. I of course had no idea that this might be a bad thing I was just glad I was alive. The Alpha, Mydan, had two male pups, well they might not be considered 'pups' at this point they were a moon older than me. I thought it was pretty ovious, Mydan wanted one of them to fall for me, but I never thought of either of them as more than a brother and they either thought the same or they knew I would nip them if they mentioned it. I lived with them awile and got my Tribe name Myka. Then the Alpha changed to a hateful female and her mate. They or rather she exiled me giving me my outcast name Syra. She had the Tribe chase me out, and I noticed Mydan and her family at the back wishing this didn't have to happen. I didn't know where I would go next, but I went. I tryed to go to the Trybe of Sylver Dawn that was a mistake.

The Begining

I, Syra, the coolest, prettiest, and over-all best wolf ever was born whenever I was born, wolves don't really keep track of time, just outside the Terratore, where most wolves live, along with five sisters and one brother. My brother was the largest, but I was right behind him. My sisters were all very small, and my favorite was the runt. Just after my brother, Aron, and I had learned to hunt, our sisters were to small to start training yet, our mother and father were taken by a dragon. I wanted to go look for them, but Aron knew we had to stay and care for our sisters. He soon convinced me to stay. Winter was almost upon us and he refused to let me come with him on hunting trips. He was using to much energy hunting and not eating enough. He died not long after our parents were taken.
I was determined not to make his mistakes if I did there would be no hope of any of our family surviving. After a few weeks only two of my sisters had suvived. I continued to take care of them, but I could see they were getting weaker. One day they got in a fight each thiking the other had gotten more food. One was killed the remaining pup died of a combination of grief and her wounds. I was now four moons (months) old and completely alone.
